PIRANHA PROMOTIONAL FLEET TURNS HEADS IN NYC
Animal Planet Goes Mobile to Promote River Monsters Season Premiere

To promote the season premiere of Animal Planet’s hit show River Monsters, Turtle Transit transformed five smart cars into piranhas for a promotional activation executed by Pierce Promotions. The custom built fleet featured 3D exteriors, which included protruding rooftop fins, rear tails and teeth on the front bumpers. Custom vibrant graphics were applied to give a life-like piranha appearance. To hype up consumers on the streets, Turtle installed an LCD in the rear of one vehicle which played looping previews of the upcoming season.

The school of fish travelled together with brand ambassadors, “monster anglers,” which intercepted consumers and handed out branded hats, koozies and tune-in cards. Monster anglers wore branded fishing vests and hats to stir up excitement on the streets, as the piranha fleet made their way to hotspots in the city like Times Square and Grand Central Terminal.

To accommodate a tight timeline and short weekend activation, Turtle’s sister company, Ad Vehicles, leased the five smart cars to Pierce Promotions. Ad Vehicles specialty leasing services allowed Pierce to execute their program seamlessly and quickly on schedule.

TURTLE BUILDS A CUSTOM SAMPLING PROGRAM FOR ARBY’S FOUNDATION
Arby’s Charity Tour Makes an Impression in the Community

The Arby’s Foundation contacted Turtle Transit in the early spring to design a custom sampling program for its annual Arby’s Charity Tour. The Foundation’s Community Events Program, a traveling series of events and amateur golf tournaments supporting Big Brothers / Big Sisters and other youth-mentoring initiatives across the country, kicked off in mid April.

To create a festival-like atmosphere wherever the tour stopped, Turtle designed and built a custom 40’ interactive sampling trailer towed by a head-turning branded vehicle. The trailer was the focus of the experience, which leveraged a full-service interior kitchen for preparing samples of Arby’s famous roast beef sandwiches and curly fries. With a vending window for product serving, Turtle transformed the trailer into an Arby’s restaurant on wheels. While tour staff handed out product samples, attendees could interact with a number of exciting activities throughout the program’s experience.

A touch-based photo activation station was positioned underneath a branded arched awning on the driver side of the trailer. Using its touch features, event attendees could get their photo taken and later retrieve it on Arby’s Charity Tour Facebook page. On the passenger side of the trailer, a flip-up window displayed two 40’ LCD monitors with gaming controls, microphones, and exterior sound system. A custom AV media rack inside the trailer’s storage area housed a number of hi-tech electronics for the exterior LCD TVs. From its Wii gaming consoles, professional karaoke player, and CD / DVD playback, attendees could watch promotional media, test their skills at several Wii dual-player games, or perform a favorite song using the TVs as karaoke monitors.

Turtle installed a custom rooftop deck sound system which tour staff used to capture consumer attention and generate excitement at event location. As attendees approached the experience, they were welcomed by a custom 25’ inflatable archway with Arby’s iconic branding. The branded inflatable also included signage, which could be switched out and customized for every stop on tour. The highlight of the mobile program was its custom 3D rooftop sign. Turtle fabricated and engineered a custom hydraulic rooftop sign. Using an engineering technology never before used in a mobile vehicle, Turtle installed a custom lift system, which raised a 4’ Arby’s cowboy hat 20’ above the trailer via a telescoping mast.

When set-up on event location, a customized John Deere Gator wrapped with Arby’s graphics carried materials and premiums onto golf courses during charity tournaments. The Arby’s custom sampling program is scheduled to make appearances until the fall. The program has already made an impact in the media while it stopped in Nashville after a horrific flood disaster, to hand out free samples to those recovering at the Gaylord Opryland resort.
