MCDONALD’S – GREAT MOBILE TOURS COME IN THREES
Turtle Revamps McCafe Sampling Program for a Third Activation
The McCafe sampling tour started back in the summer of 2008 when McDonald’s launched its McCafe specialty coffee line of gourmet espressos and lattes. To drive awareness and increase trial for the new McCafe products, leading advertising agency Arnold Worldwide worked with Turtle Transit to launch an impressive summer sampling program in and around the metro D.C area.
The program consisted of a customized branded cargo van, kitchen serving trailer, and café kiosk. The tour vehicles provided water filtration systems, electrical service, refrigeration and storage, which assisted brand ambassadors in the preparation of McCafé samples for consumers.
The impact and overall success of the program led to create a new mobile sampling experience in the North East. Turtle refurbished the custom tour vehicles and installed vibrant vinyl graphics before the tour hit the road for a second activation. In the fall of ’09, Turtle was tasked with expanding the original McCafe sampling program with a total upgrade and refurbishment - including new graphics.
To drive awareness and promote McCafe’s new line of smoothie drinks, Turtle installed drip coffee and smoothie systems in the program’s kitchen trailer, which allowed tour staff to distribute its new products to consumers. The new program vehicles allowed McDonald’s to regionalize the tour and visit new markets in the North East.
