DISCOVER KEURIG MOBILE FLEET INVADES SAN FRANSCISCO
Custom Sampling Vehicles Serve up Fresh Coffee to Consumers
To build brand awareness on the west coast for its popular single-cup brewing systems, Keurig activated a pair of custom sampling vehicles in San Francisco to serve up fresh coffee to consumers shopping on Black Friday Weekend. Boston-based agency, Brand Content, tasked Turtle Transit to design and build the custom vehicles for its Discover Keurig Campaign.
Since it was a speed-to-market program and only activating for a month on the west coast, Brand Content leased two vehicles from Turtle Transit. Turtle selected a Ford Transit Connect as the base vehicle, considering it can park easily in busy Metropolitan areas, as well as provide the brand with plenty of space to store equipment and materials.
Turtle Transit’s goal was to design the vehicles to activate with quick setups and breakdowns. Turtle’s engineer team was also tasked with installing three Keurig brewing systems per Transit Connect. This was extremely challenging considering the power requirements needed for each brewing system.
Turtle installed a generator inside each vehicle to power the brewing systems and engineered a solution to expel the exhaust outdoors. The passenger slide out was finished with a recessed wall and included a countertop that mounted to the side of the vehicle for a Keurig brewing system and accessories. Turtle fabricated a second wall in the rear of the vehicle and constructed a flip-down countertop to provide space for three additional brewing systems.
To take advantage of available space, Turtle mounted racks onto the rear doors to display Keurig materials for sampling. The vehicles were also wrapped in vibrant graphics promoting the Discover Keurig Campaign. To create high visual impact and engage San Francisco consumers while shopping for the holidays, Turtle Transit fabricated large-scale coffee mugs and mounted them onto the rooftop of the vehicles. The Discover Keurig Campaign was an extremely successful program and generated a lot of awareness on the west coast.
